About The Role
The role:
 
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a University student to join our Technical Operations team within our IT Operations department on a 12-month placement.
 
The role will require your sound communication, planning and IT skills to assist and advise key stakeholders and line management. The position also provides an opportunity to work in a fast-growing IT and data management company, that encourages personal development and independent thinking.
 
 
Duties will include:
  • Providing technical support and management of the varied network and server infrastructure, seeing incidents through to resolution within target resolution times.
  • Providing an escalation point for the Service Desk team.
  • Implementing common requests, changes and corrective actions to aid with the continual improvement of the existing network and server infrastructure.
  • Maintaining our extensive estate of servers, storage and network infrastructure to ensure integrity and resilience and adhere to patch management policies.
  • Collaborating with other internal teams to work towards the achievement of business objectives.
  • Delivering an exceptional degree of customer service; ensuring that our customers benefit from clear communications and effective resolution.
 

The successful applicant will have:

  • An interest in developing a career in server and/or network support.
  • An understanding of standard networking services and protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to identify, analyse, troubleshoot and resolve problems.
About You
You should ideally have some experience in the following;

(As this is a placement opportunity the following are not essential, although a basic knowledge would be beneficial – these would be some of the skills you would develop within the role)Windows desktop and server operating systems.

  • Server hardware troubleshooting and support.
  • SAN troubleshooting and support (Dell, HP)
  • Network support and administration.
  • VMware vSphere and ESXi virtualisation technology (or similar).
  • Check Point or Cisco network firewall technology (or similar).
