Network & Infrastructure Engineer

What will you do?

• Providing technical support and management of the varied network and server infrastructure, seeing incidents through to resolution within target resolution times.
• Implementing common requests, changes, and corrective actions to aid with the improvement of the existing network and server infrastructure.
• Planning, design, and implementation of new services as part of business projects.
• Completing maintenance requests.
• Recommending the best technical strategy and design options.
• Procurement of hardware & software,
• Assess and escalate network security risks to the IT Security team.
• Improving services to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
• Management and resolution of escalated incidents
• Collaborating with other internal teams to work towards the achievement of business objectives.
• Delivering an exceptional degree of customer service; ensuring that our customers benefit from clear communications and effective resolution.
• Continual improvement of operational services.

What will you need? 

• A genuine interest and enthusiasm for IT support and management of IT systems.
• A background in IT including previous support experience.
• A background including experience in support and administration of some of these key areas:
  • Server hardware (Dell & HPe)
  • Virtualisation (ESXi, vCenter, VMware VMC on AWS)
  • Storage, SAN (HPe 3PAR, HPe Primera, Dell EqualLogic)
  • SAN Switching
  • Zerto
  • Firewall support and management (Check Point, Cisco or similar)
  • Switching and routing (HPe, Cisco or similar)
  • DNS, DHCP
  • File Transfer (SFTP, Connect:Direct)
  • Load Balancers (A10 or similar)
  • Proxy services
  • VPN Appliances (Juniper, Pulse Secure or similar)
  • BGP
  • Encryption/Cryptography/HSMs/Key Management
  • Server Operating system deployment and management (windows/Linux)
  • Cloud administration (AWS, VMware Cloud)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• The ability to identify, analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve problems.

  It will be beneficial if you have:

• Cloud certifications (AWS, VMware Cloud Foundation)
• Network support and administration (Cisco, HPe)
• PRINCE 2 certification
• MCSA / MCSE certification
• CCNA / CCNP certification
• VCA / VCP certification
• ITIL Foundation certification / experience working within an ITIL environment.
